Mad, glad, and very odd

My dane is, well to say the least an odd dog.
She's hard headed, and the first dog I've ever owned (my first dane too) who backtalks--if she gets told no she WILL argue, its not like a threatening bark but "but I wanna!" kinda mix.
She still gets into things she shouldn't at three years old, and will eat ANYTHING but pretzels and peppers (and benedryl)

Yet this dog is really my best friend, she's one of the reasons I'm still alive (I suffer rather severe depression), and her mad antics keep me from taking much too seriously. I was told in the past if she hadn't been an accidental breeding she probably wouldn't have been "allowed" to live because of slight issues (she's nearly solid white, and her pupils are malformed, but she can see--mostly well--though thinks shadows are people sometimes).

this is not uncommon for danes to backtalk...

actually feels like we're having a conversation...

good luck with the other obedience issues - just remeber - be firm and consistant

Our Zeke is like that, but doesn't backtalk...exactly. I think I have mentioned it before that I will growl at him and he laughs at my accent. He scrunches up his nose, starts sneezing and jumping around with a twist. He's taken to sighing verbally and also to sometimes scaring the crap out of me when I am alone and he yawns with voice - whoa. He has a HUGE sense of humor. Do your dogs? Zeke is SO funny that it's amazing. Hours of endless delight - better than cable t.v.!!!

Oh, and he's a real loverdog. HAS to see his person (and I am lucky enough that it's me!).

Yes she my dog is a bit silly at times. She has "hyper" attacks where she runs in circles (through the house) and runs in a big circle in place and tries to get me to chase her. She'll bring me her tug o war toy and try and shove it in my mouth. "You PUPPY! PLAY!" she also has other amusing antics like her fondness if I'm sitting on the floor to come plant her behind on my chest. Or sitting her behind on a chair while playing tug of war. She's also very snuggly will come and lay next to me even going so far as throwing her head/neck across my legs and forcing them into the position she wants to use them as a pillow.. She's a very physical sort of clown though.

Just yesterday I saw there was an oven mitt that had fallen in the floor so I picked it up and put it on my hand and waved it in front of her, she reached out to grab it to chew on like a chew toy and I said "OW!" (never mind it didn't hurt) she then VERY gently comes back and slides her teeth around the tiniest edge of the mitt and tugs it off my hand ever so gently.. once she got it of my hand she ran off to chew on it. Very sweet, very gentle and odd at the same time.
